Dynisma Unveils Compact DMG-S Driver-in-the-Loop Simulator for Mid-Tier Motorsport Teams
The DMG‑S is a compact platform that fits within a 2.5 m² footprint, a significant reduction from the large DMG‑360XY rigs that occupy several square metres. It offers less than 5 ms latency and a motion bandwidth of 50 Hz, providing high‑frequency, low‑latency driver feedback. The system can be configured with three 77‑inch displays or a virtual‑reality/X‑reality headset, and comes standard with the Assetto Corsa racing simulation software. It is also compatible with iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate and the official Formula 1 game.
Two seating configurations are available: a low‑heel‑point position for GT and touring‑car simulation and a high‑heel‑point position for single‑seater racing. The DMG‑S eliminates the bespoke infrastructure that Formula 1 teams normally install for a new DiL system; it can be bolt‑down mounted and operates on a 32‑amp supply.
According to the company’s commercial director, Simon Holloway, the rig is “very much aimed at customer teams, and as a secondary sim for our existing clients.” He added that teams running GT3 programmes or LMP2/LMP3 series could benefit from the technology. Holloway said the DMG‑S “opens up the opportunity to bring Formula 1‑derived technology … at a price point that makes it accessible to a wider group.”
Dynisma’s CEO, Graeme Cook, described the launch as an important step in expanding the company’s simulation expertise beyond the elite level. “Teams and manufacturers already trust Dynisma for high‑performance simulation and DMG‑S brings that engineering approach into a compact, more accessible Driver‑in‑the‑Loop solution,” Cook said.
The DMG‑S is Dynisma’s third DiL simulator since the company was founded in 2017. It sits below the DMG‑1 rig, which is used by teams in Formula E, Formula 2 and IndyCar and offers double the bandwidth of the DMG‑S. Dynisma’s flagship product remains the DMG‑360XY platform, which is deployed by Formula 1 teams.
The company has not disclosed a price for the DMG‑S. Industry observers note that the reduced excursion range and bandwidth compared with the DMG‑360XY and DMG‑1 models are offset by the lower cost and smaller footprint, making the rig suitable for teams that require professional‑grade simulation without the capital outlay of a full‑scale platform.
Dynisma’s motion‑generator technology has been used by a range of motorsport and automotive customers, including the FIA‑registered WEC, IMSA and Formula E series. The company’s expansion into more affordable rigs reflects a broader trend in motorsport toward scalable simulation solutions that can be deployed across multiple disciplines.
The DMG‑S launch comes as Dynisma continues to grow its workforce, which now includes more than 180 driving‑simulation experts. The company’s strategy, according to its leadership, is to provide high‑fidelity motion simulation that can support driver development and race preparation for teams at all levels.
The DMG‑S is expected to enter the market in the coming months, with Dynisma announcing that it will be available for purchase in the UK and select international markets. No official release date has been set, and the company has not yet provided a price list.
In summary, Dynisma’s DMG‑S offers a compact, low‑latency DiL solution that leverages Formula 1‑grade motion technology. The rig’s smaller footprint, bolt‑down installation and 32‑amp power requirement make it a practical option for customer teams and secondary simulation setups. The company’s focus on expanding access to advanced simulation reflects the growing importance of driver‑in‑the‑loop technology across motorsport and automotive development.
