Cathay Pacific has turned TikTok into a new runway for its premium passengers, unveiling a campaign that lets travelers speak for themselves. Announced in early July 2026, the airline’s partnership with Melbourne‑based creative agency Kill Boring Dead (KBD) marks the agency’s first work for the carrier after it was selected earlier in the year as a TikTok‑native creative partner.

The initiative abandons the polished, scripted airline ad in favor of creator‑led storytelling that feels native to the platform. Titled “OMG, I’ve got to tell you about my flight,” the concept hinges on the idea that a flight that exceeds expectations will prompt passengers to share it instantly. Instead of brand‑centric messages, the campaign showcases nano creators and real Cathay Pacific travelers who give first‑person reactions through FaceTime‑style chats, post‑flight debriefs, direct‑to‑camera testimonials and at‑home recaps.

KBD Co‑Founder and CEO Marcus Willis said the project reflects a broader shift toward social creative that behaves more like culture than advertising. “Airlines have spent decades telling people their flights are amazing. We wanted to do the opposite: build something that lets real Cathay Pacific travellers tell their own flight stories, in their own words, the way people actually share them on TikTok,” Willis explained. He added that the campaign exemplifies “brave, simple ideas that trust real people more than polished advertising.”

Kelly Arnison, Cathay Pacific’s Travel Marketing Manager for Oceania, highlighted the campaign’s focus on younger premium travelers. “We know younger travellers are incredibly discerning when it comes to the content they engage with, particularly on platforms like TikTok,” Arnison said. “KBD understood from the outset that this audience doesn’t want traditional airline advertising. They want to hear genuine experiences from real people in formats that feel honest, entertaining and relatable. The campaign captures the premium Cathay Pacific experience in a way that feels culturally relevant while staying true to our brand.”

The project sits within Cathay Pacific’s broader always‑on paid social program that spans TikTok and Meta. KBD’s Melbourne office leads the creative strategy, creator management, content production, optimisation and ongoing creative testing, while Spark Foundry, a separate agency, handles paid media strategy, buying and performance reporting. KBD secured the partnership through a competitive pitch process that included a bid against Publicis, and the agency’s social‑first focus has earned it a Webby award and a reputation for work that “behaves like culture.”

Cathay Pacific’s move toward a TikTok‑centric approach aligns with its goal of engaging a new generation of premium travelers who prefer authentic, peer‑generated content over traditional advertising. By leveraging nano creators—influencers with smaller, highly engaged followings—the campaign aims to generate organic reach and resonate with audiences that value genuine storytelling. The launch comes as airlines increasingly experiment with social media platforms to reach younger consumers, and TikTok’s algorithmic recommendation system and short‑form video format make it a natural fit for real‑time, experiential content.

As the campaign rolls out, Cathay Pacific will monitor engagement metrics and audience feedback to refine its approach. The airline’s broader paid social program will continue to adapt to evolving consumer preferences and platform dynamics. In summary, Cathay Pacific’s collaboration with Kill Boring Dead represents a deliberate pivot from conventional airline advertising to a creator‑driven, TikTok‑native strategy aimed at younger premium travelers, with success hinging on authentic, relatable content that resonates with a discerning, digitally native audience.
