ProMedEx and Beijing Synapsor Form Joint Venture to Build Single-Use Medical Facility in Saudi Arabia
The partnership’s core goal is to build a manufacturing facility that will produce single‑use medical products and consumables for the Saudi, GCC, and broader Middle East markets. Construction is scheduled to begin on 23 August 2026 after the Saudi authorities approve the project plans, with the facility expected to be completed by May 2027. The total estimated cost of the project is 35 million SAR, which will be deployed in stages in line with the approved business plan and construction timeline.
ProMedEx will fund its share of the project from its available funding sources, but the signing of the agreement does not constitute an immediate commitment to cover the full estimated cost. The company has said it will disclose any material developments as they arise. Operations will not commence until the joint venture secures the necessary licences and regulatory approvals from Saudi authorities and signs further agreements with parties required to implement the project.
Financially, the agreement has no immediate material impact on ProMedEx’s financial statements. The first observable effect on the company’s results is expected only after the joint venture receives licences and approvals and begins implementation and operation, projected to start around the end of the 2027 fiscal year.
Production milestones are outlined in the agreement. Pilot production is scheduled to begin in June 2027 and is expected to last approximately two months. Commercial production is slated to commence in August 2027, following successful pilot testing and regulatory clearance.
The joint venture aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to expand domestic manufacturing of medical supplies and reduce reliance on imports. By partnering with Synapsor—a Chinese company focused on AI‑driven medical devices—ProMedEx aims to combine local market knowledge with advanced technology to meet growing demand for single‑use medical products.
ProMedEx’s board resolved on 13 July 2026 to proceed with the project. According to the company’s statement, there are no related parties involved in the agreement. The joint venture will be subject to all applicable Saudi regulations governing medical device manufacturing, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and other relevant health‑sector approvals.
In summary, the joint venture represents a strategic investment in local medical manufacturing infrastructure. Key upcoming events include regulatory approvals, the start of construction in August 2026, pilot production in June 2027, and the launch of commercial production in August 2027. ProMedEx will monitor progress and report material developments in accordance with Saudi disclosure requirements.
